Abbeydown as we know it today has evolved over a period of 20 years or so during which time the original abandoned farmhouse has been restored and enlarged with the addition of a conservatory and much larger wing.

In the wing there are three double bedrooms, the largest of these being on the first floor with its own en-suite bathroom. Below are the two other bedrooms which share the use of a shower room and an additional separate w.c. There is a grand and spacious first floor drawing room with an open fire, piano, and wonderful views. Below is the very well-equipped large family kitchen with a wood-burning stove for extra warmth in colder months. The conservatory, which contains a prolific vine, leads from this kitchen through to the original part of the house referred to as the cottage. Here there are two further upstairs bedrooms, one being a slightly smaller room with a double bed and the other a larger room with twin beds. Between them is a bathroom. Downstairs there is a shower room. There is a good-sized living room with a wood-burning stove, comfortable sofas and chairs, a dining table and TV. The kitchen here, though small, is well equipped for use when this part of the property, “the cottage”, is being rented separately.

The entire property, therefore, comprises five double bedrooms, two bathrooms (one being en-suite), two shower rooms and a further separate WC.

During certain periods, however, it may be possible to rent the original cottage part of the house, as described above, separately. This is particularly suited to cosy winter getaways for perhaps a small family or two couples. It should be noted that the rest of the house, beyond the conservatory, would remain empty during such a rental to ensure complete privacy and tranquility of a stay.

Outside there are landscaped lawns leading up to far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside. In summer months here you can play croquet, bowls and fun tennis on a somewhat unpredictable grass court.

There is ample room for cars in the courtyard.
